Wisconsin Public Service Corporation Electric Distribution System Modernization Project

Project Description:	WPS proposes to improve electric distribution system reliability over a five-year period starting in 2014 by annually addressing 200 to 300 miles of its overhead electric distribution system. WPS proposes to replace sections of existing overhead primary voltage electric distribution facilities with underground facilities, installing distribution automation equipment, or both. The locations of the proposed electrical distribution system improvements are focused on areas and facilities with the poorest reliability. Over the five year program, WPS states that it will improve 1,400 circuit miles of the worst-performing overhead electric circuits by installing 1,000 to 1,250 miles of underground lines, about 700 miles of which will be conversions from overhead to underground construction. The estimated cost of the proposed project is $218,000,000.
