The recent rate increases for water have been difficult for homeowners. I absolutely vote no to increasing the rates for residential tax payers of the city. I have still not seen information come out as to why 3M and the other heavy contributors to the water contamination issue haven't had to put the majority of funds into the new water treatment build.
I think we also need to keep in mind that ALL of these increases are adding to the serious rental problem we are having in this city. Any monthly costs added will be passed off to the renters who are paying record high prices to keep a roof over their head. Between the tax increases I've seen, water increases and gas and electric, I'm surprised the average family can afford to live without government support. Government support is not the answer either. I think it's time to find another source of funding, like the bigger companies contributing to the problem. |
