I am opposed to this rate increase. Our water rates are higher than other communities in the area. For the past several summers we have been on water restrictions. The main need for this restriction is because of the growth in the city and lack of adequate water supply. Rather than control the growth in the city, the leaders have allowed uncontrolled growth. They are now trying to catch up with the water need. Rather than making sure that there were adequate resources, and passing on the cost to the developers, the leaders are trying to pass the cost on to the citizens that don`t even agree with the growth. To my knowledge, the developers haven`t been required to contribute in a significant way to the building of new wells and infrastructure related to that. Again, I oppose the water rate increase and request the council to deny the request.
