Please approve the solar project. Clean renewable energy is necessary as the world attempts to deal with the rising temperatures caused by greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels. If a landowner, especially a farmer whose income is directly tied to how the land is used, can participate in a project that allows for income without the expenses and labor involved in farming then that would seem to be beneficial for that landowner. The fact that the most common local crops, corn, beans, and sod, are not used as food sources for people makes removing this land from production should have little effect on our food chain. The intensive tillage system in use now causes soil erosion, nutrient runoff into nearby waterways, and the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, all things that converting this land to a solar project will prevent. As a resident who will be very close to this project I believe the benefits out way any negative outcomes and I ask the commission to approve this project. |
