What are these programs?

These programs provide various types of support and can increase your potential internet discount. Note: Information provided is accurate as of July 2023 and is subject to change.

ACP & Lifeline

ACP enables eligible low income households to get a discount of up to $30 / month for broadband service and internet connected devices (up to $75 / month for households on qualifying Tribal lands). When you sign up for ACP you will be given a code to use when signing up for internet service to apply the discount to service. To see if you qualify, visit Get Internet.
Lifeline is a federal program that lowers the monthly cost of phone or internet service, currently offering $9.25 off the cost of phone, internet or bundled services to eligible individuals and households.

Other Programs

Bureau of Indian Affairs maintains government-to-government relationships with Indian tribes, and facilitates support for tribal people and tribal governments. For households on qualifying Tribal lands, the ACP discount is up to $75 / month.
Head Start provides services for children under the age of 5 from low-income families through programs operated by non-profits, schools, community action commissions or other organizations. Head Start participants may be eligible for additional internet discounts.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) assists families with energy costs with federally funded assistance. LIHEAP participants may be eligible for additional internet discounts.

SNAP provides benefits to eligible low-income individuals and families that enable purchase of eligible food in authorized retail food stores. SNAP recipients may be eligible for additional internet discounts.
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides federal grants for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age 5 who are found to be at nutritional risk. WIC participants may be eligible for additional internet discounts.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF) program provides funds to states & territories to provide families with financial assistance and related support services. State-administered programs may include childcare assistance, job preparation, and work assistance. TANF participants may be eligible for additional internet discounts.
Veterans Pension and Survivor Benefits offers monthly payments to qualified surviving spouses and unmarried dependent children of wartime Veterans who meet certain income and net worth limits set by Congress. VA pension recipients may be eligible for additional internet discounts.
